About Tolkvi

Digital infrastructure for sign language interpreting

Tolkvi AB (559581-3667) is a Swedish technology company building digital infrastructure for sign language interpreting. The platform acts as a digital bridge between public and private sector organizations, sign language interpreters and interpreting companies, from booking and coordination to delivery and follow-up. The core technology is owned and managed in-house with data protection, accessibility and accountability as starting points. The goal is for access to sign language interpreting to work in practice, not only in theory.

Vision

Our vision is for sign language interpreting to be as accessible in rural areas as in major cities. The right support needs to be reachable wherever the need appears.

Mission

Tolkvi provides the digital infrastructure required to make that real: a connected workflow where booking, coordination, delivery and follow-up work together for the stakeholders around sign language interpreting.

Why Tolkvi exists

Every meeting needs communication that works

An interpreting assignment is more than a booking. It enables understanding, participation and decisions in meetings that affect people’s lives. Tolkvi exists to make sign language interpreting more connected, accessible and traceable, with technology that supports the full workflow.

  • For the person in the meeting

Communication needs to work where decisions, care, learning, work and everyday life happen.

  • For the stakeholders around the assignment

Public and private sector organizations, sign language interpreters and interpreting companies need clarity around requests, status, responsibility and records.

  • For a system that holds together

Tolkvi connects the workflow so assignments can be planned, delivered and followed up with better control.

Our mission

Clearer interpreting assignments from start to finish

Tolkvi exists to reduce the gaps in the work around sign language interpreting. When requests, responsibility, availability and follow-up are connected in a structured workflow, assignments become easier to book, coordinate, deliver and follow up.

  1. From need to decisionEvery assignment starts with a concrete communication need. Tolkvi makes the path from need to the right next step clearer.
  2. Responsibility through the flowPublic and private sector organizations, sign language interpreters and interpreting companies need to know what is happening, who is responsible and what records exist.
  3. Developed to hold upThe core technology is in-house and the platform is designed for more needs, more ways of working and higher requirements without losing clarity, data protection or control.

The principles behind Tolkvi

Four principles

Tolkvi is guided by four principles that together form TOLK: Tangible accessibility, Operational clarity, Long-term trust and Kaizen mindset. They describe how the platform works around every assignment.

Tangible accessibility

Accessibility becomes real when the right interpreting support can be reached in practical situations, whether the need is planned, recurring or appears quickly.

Operational clarity

Booking, coordination, delivery, history, finance and follow-up need to stay connected for every participant around the assignment.

Long-term trust

When interpreting touches healthcare, education, public agencies, working life and everyday decisions, the technology needs to support responsibility, data protection, traceability and clear boundaries.

Kaizen mindset

Continuous improvement is part of how Tolkvi evolves. Each improvement should make the workflow clearer, faster or more reliable for the people and organizations using it.

Accessibility and compliance

Making EU reference points practical

The EU’s work on accessibility, participation, language, data protection and digital inclusion sets a clear direction for how digital public services need to work. Tolkvi turns that direction into practical infrastructure for sign language interpreting, where responsibility, access and follow-up stay connected in real workflows.
